(July 26, 2023) His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America, as Patriarchal Vicar of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of New Jersey, is pleased to announce that the Holy and Sacred Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate accepted the Holy Eparchial Synod’s petition and unanimously elected His Grace Bishop Apostolos of Medeia as the new Metropolitan of the Holy Metropolis of New Jersey at its meeting on Monday, July 24, 2023.

The Enthronement of His Eminence Metropolitan Apostolos of New Jersey will take place on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at 10:30 a.m., at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of Saint John the Theologian in Tenafly, New Jersey. The following day, Sunday, September 17, His Eminence will also celebrate his first Divine Liturgy at the Cathedral as the new Metropolitan of New Jersey.


Change for September's Annual Celebration of Service for Holy Cross Asbury Park
At the direction of His Eminence Metropolitan Apostolos of New Jersey we write to inform you that due 
to the new rules and regulations introduced by the Township of Neptune, New Jersey, and The Grand Auditorium 
the Metropolis of New Jersey Annual Holy Cross Celebration will not be able to take place in Ocean Grove, New Jersey, 
on Sunday, September 17, 2023.

Please know that it is His Eminence Metropolitan Apostolos’ sincere wish to sustain and continue this prestigious Metropolis celebration, as well as his desire to provide an opportunity for our youth to still participate in this blessed event. Therefore, His Eminence will celebrate the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy on Sunday, September 24, 2023, at St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Asbury Park (Ocean), New Jersey.
Following the celebration of the Divine Liturgy, His Eminence, the youth, and the faithful will travel to the Asbury Park beach, where the Blessing of the Waters and the Diving for the Holy Cross will be held.
